The Portland,Oregon-based chain has one remaining location in Denver, next to Union Station. Cherry Creek was the newer of the two.
“The owners are exploring future options & have no further comments at this time,” the restaurant said in a Facebook message.
“It has more desserts — more like a light lunch or snack,” Ismet Yilmaz said of Istanbul Cafe and Bakery. “My food truck has larger dinners.”
At both places, “You order what you see, not what you read from a menu,” chef Mario Petit said.
Co-owner: “The thought process is to try and shake up the stereotype of French dining.”
The space has been empty since DJ’s flipped its last pancake in early December 2017.
The seller’s late husband operated restaurant Strings in the building along 17th Avenue for 25 years, up until his death in 2011.
Burgers at Kuma’s Corner have names like the Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden.
“It will be really convenient for tenants here at Colorado Center, as well as for commuters,” a Lincoln Property Co. official said, noting the nearby light-rail station.
