Don’t blame the virus: Owner Sam Kaufman, whose father Fred started the business, said his plan always has been to retire by the end of 2020.
“We’re testing a different market,” said Elias Lehnert, whose family owns Colorado Cherry Co.
“We wanted to be good neighbors, and since Bonnie Brae is the only ice cream my family eats, I thought I would share the trucks,” said a co-owner of Bonnie Brae Liquor.
Among other things, the plaintiffs are asking a court to dissolve the company.
“I wish I could say I was smart enough to see it coming,” said one co-owner. “Now, of course, it makes sense.”
Vital Outdoors opened in March 2019, and had been closed since coronavirus business restrictions were put in place.
In exchange for a total of six months of no rent, the tenants must extend their leases by six months, according to the proposal.
“Product selection leans a little more grocery because we are in more of a neighborhood setting,” said CEO Mike Fogarty.

“It’s a smaller location, but we’ll see a lot more people,” the owner said.
