“Given that we’ve not had anybody, I unfortunately don’t anticipate there being one,” said Katie Sisk, who owns one of the six condos at 900 E. 1st Ave.
Denver joins cities like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, which passed similar regulations earlier in the pandemic.
“We pioneered trying to run a retail business on Brighton Boulevard,” a Do-It-Ur-Self executive told BusinessDen last year.
The ownership group, which purchased the site in 2019, hammered out a Good Neighbor Agreement that runs 67 pages.
The eatery in Lakewood, made famous by ‘South Park,’ hasn’t reopened since the pandemic began.
StoryBuilt, which changed its name last year, owns at least one other site in Denver.
A broker involved said it’s an example of a pandemic trend of companies looking to exit major coastal markets for interior markets “that they feel are more livable.”
“We see ourselves building a new category,” said Daydream Apartments CEO Jon Slavet.
Accessory dwelling units are already legal in some parts of the city, but otherwise, property owners wanting to build one have to ask the city to rezone their specific parcel.
