A card game that teaches kids about U.S. geography and trivia cut its first deck in the Denver area this week.
About 30 grade-schoolers at Addenbrooke Classical Academy in Lakewood tried their hand at GeoPlunge in a tournament held Tuesday night. It was sponsored by the Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya.
A GeoPlunge set contains more than 220 cards with facts about U.S. states that can be used in several different critical thinking games for kids 5 and up.
The game started about 15 years ago in Washington, D.C., where roughly 300 children from 50 schools participate in annual GeoPlunge tournaments.
Craig Duff, the Addenbrooke teacher that organized this week’s event, said he hopes that one day Denver will have its own citywide GeoPlunge tournament.
