The DTC could get another 160,000 square feet of office space.
Denver-based Corum Real Estate wants to build a new 12-story office building at 5050 S. Syracuse St. Drawings presented at last week’s Denver Planning Board meeting show six stories of office space atop of seven floors worth of parking.
The plans also show about 4,000 square feet of rental space on the development’s ground floor.
The project will take the place of Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. At Wednesday’s board meeting, Corum Real Estate President Michael Komppa said the eatery will close later this year.
A Garcia’s representative did not confirm any plans to leave the spot when reached by phone Friday.
Corum is seeking to rezone the 1-acre site to allow for its 150-foot office building. The board recommended approval of its request, but it will still need the thumbs up from City Council.
Clutch Design Studio is the architecture firm working on Corum’s planned office building. The site is currently owned by 5050 South Syracuse LLC, city records show, which bought the property in 2001 for $1.365 million.
Corum Real Estate is drafting the new DTC office building while it works on an industrial building just north of Denver. Corum is building 124,000 square feet worth of warehouse space on a 7.5-acre site just off of Interstate 25 on 62nd Avenue.
