The stowaway has come out of hiding.

RiNo’s Stowaway Coffee + Kitchen opened its doors for the first time last Friday after construction delays pushed the date back from September.

“In hindsight it gave us time to get well-prepared,” co-founder Hayden Barnie said. “It was a blessing in disguise I think.”

Barnie and his wife, Amy Cohen, first announced plans to open Stowaway this summer. They drew inspiration for the cafe and restaurant from their time working at Australian distributor Coffee Supreme.

The cafe serves Boxcar coffee, as well as a monthly rotating brew.

To distinguish Stowaway from other cafes in RiNo, the couple cooked up a full-service kitchen from scratch.

Equipping the kitchen was a difficult process, Cohen said, but the project was aided by $20,000 from a month-long Indiegogo campaign that closed in August.
