A nonprofit education company is scaling down its presence around Denver.

Zenith Education Group is closing its Thornton call center and the Aurora campus of Everest College. The company said it will fold the Aurora Everest College into the Thornton campus.

Zenith notified 150 call center workers at its Thornton office that their last day will be Dec. 1, according to a WARN notice filed with the state earlier this month. In May, the company cut 130 jobs at the same call center.

Zenith said it’s closing the call center and consolidating campuses because of a decline in student enrollment. The company did not say what it plans on doing with the real estate.

“The Everest Aurora campus, which currently has 150 students, will be closed as of December 31, 2015, and Everest Thornton will continue to provide nonprofit career education for Denver-area residents,” the company wrote in a statement to BusinessDen.

The Thornton campus has classes in business and healthcare, the company said.

Zenith Education Group is a nonprofit education entity spun off from student loan servicer and debt collector Education Credit Management Corp. ECMC bought more than 56 schools under the Everest College, Heald College and WyoTech flags from for-profit Corinthian Colleges in a deal that closed in February.

Corinthian ran into trouble in 2014 when the Department of Education cut off the network’s access to federal student aid money amid allegations Corinthian had falsified placement data for program graduates.

Corinthian Colleges filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
