This custom-built Cherry Hills Village home topped the list of Denver’s priciest home sales.
A local luxury home builder and Realtor sold her custom-built mansion for $5.5 million, earning the top spot on the list of priciest residential sales in the Denver metro area last month.
Darlene and Peter Emory, founders of Sam Wyatt Homes, built the 9,324-square-foot property at 10 South Lane in Cherry Hills Village in 2017. The couple has been designing and building new homes for nearly 16 years.
“We were not planning to move. But we’re home developers, and we love what we do and are always looking to build another, so we decided to move forward with the sale,” said Darlene, who is also a Realtor for Coldwell Banker.
Darlene and Peter have purchased a home built in the late 1980s within the same neighborhood and plan to remodel it for their next project, she said.
The couple purchased the one-acre lot for their old home for $1.2 million in 2015, according to property records. The custom backyard has a heated, saltwater pool with a diving board, an oversized, extra deep hot tub and a one-of-a-kind custom fire pit with steel logs.
“I will miss the backyard and the spa upstairs the most,” Darlene said.
In the master bathroom, the Emorys built a personal spa complete with a sauna, a massage and oxygen room, a deep soaking tub, an oversized steam shower and heated floors.
Throughout the five-bed, seven-bath mansion there are crown molding details, wainscot paneling, 11-foot-high ceilings, white oak floors on the entire main floor and two staircases. And, just in case, a panic room with a steel bank door.
There’s also a host of high-end appliances, such as the built-in Miele coffee maker, two beverage fridges, three dishwashers and a Sub-Zero fridge and freezer.
Darlene said her husband will miss the heated seven-car garage with a Tesla-prepped charging station and two car lifts the most. Her kids were mostly fond of the movie theater and bedroom with six bunk beds, she added.
“It was truly custom-built for our family, and we never ran out of fun things to do,” Darlene said.
The home was purchased by Kritin and Thomas Simmons, according to property records. Thomas is president of Greenwood Village-based City Light & Power, according to his LinkedIn.
