Bra startup Pepper raises $2M

Bra startup Pepper’s investment rounds have moved into the seven figures.

Denver resident Jaclyn Fu, who founded the company in 2017 with New Yorker Lia Winograd, told BusinessDen the company has raised $2 million.

The funds will be used to expand the startup’s product line, which currently includes three types of bras, underwear and a laundry bag to protect the items in the washing machine.

“We’re working on new colors, new styles, new variations and also new sizes,” Fu said.

Pepper’s products are geared toward small-chested women, and can be found on the company’s website and Amazon, as well as at Urban Outfitters.

Some of the new styles, which should hit the market in about three months, include bralettes, strapless bras, sports bras and bras designed for plus-sized women with small cups, Fu said.

Pepper grew out of a 2017 Kickstarter campaign, which reached its $10,000 goal in 10 hours, ending at $47,320.

Fu said the latest funding round, which started with a $1.5 million goal, began in the fall. The company now has raised $2.4 million to date, including a round in September 2018.

The company’s growth was enough to land Fu and Winograd on Forbes magazine’s 2020 “30 Under 30” list.

  1. There are enough bras for small chested women. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a bra in sizes H and above? We need someone who works with all breast sizes….
