Arvada native Jon Cerf doesn’t plan to slow the expansion of his fitness company anytime soon.

Core Progression is preparing to open a new location in RiNo, with additional franchise locations coming within the next year.

Located at 3330 Larimer St. in the old Namaste Solar headquarters, the RiNo facility plans to open in mid-November, with a grand opening Dec. 7.

“From an investment standpoint, you want to be a few years early,” founder and owner Cerf said. “I see RiNo as still that frontier … That’s where we can get in and establish a dominant presence there.”

Core Progression members get access to personal and group fitness training, massage therapy, chiropractic services and physical therapy. Cerf said members typically spend $350 per month.

The RiNo location, similar to other Core Progression locations, will have between five and seven personal trainers. Each Core Progression location is capped at 200 members.

“We cap our classes at eight people,” Cerf previously told BusinessDen. “You have a very focused trainer who’s making sure you’re doing everything properly.”

The business also has begun offering more “semiprivate” classes for three to five members, where each person has a tailored workout but they share one personal trainer.

The RiNo location will be Core Progression’s fifth in the state; others are in Arvada, Northglenn, Boulder and Lakewood. Cerf owns the Arvada and Northglenn locations but franchises the others. The company plans to open in Colorado Springs and Longmont in the next year, he said.

Cerf said he expects 20 to 25 franchise locations to open within the next year, in places ranging from North Carolina to Las Vegas to Laguna Beach, California.

Franchise fees cost $45,000 for one territory with a three-mile radius, and $99,000 and $150,000 for three or five territories, respectively. Franchisees also pay 5 percent of weekly gross sales, Cerf said.
