After 14 years of meeting her clients all over town, Nicole Wolfe is flexing her muscles as a gym owner.
Wolfe has opened The Training Den, a 3,800-square-foot studio at 2828 Speer Blvd. in LoHi, and plans to start teaching group fitness classes in addition to personal training.
Wolfe said one reason she picked the location is because she plans to share client referrals with a nearby chiropractic and massage therapy business.
“It was basically figuring out a better logistical situation for me,” said Wolfe, 36, adding that before opening the studio, she was running around town meeting clients at city recreation centers.
“I always wanted to open my own business here,” Wolfe said. “I was working for the city and decided to branch out on my own.”
Wolfe first signed her lease in November and gradually has transferred her clients to the space. The Training Den has a group exercise room, free weights, weight machines, TRX bands, treadmills and other equipment Wolfe has been accumulating in her garage through the years. The space on Speer also comes with two small offices she wants to rent out to a dietitian or massage therapist.
Wolfe has 30 clients that she charges $1 per minute, so a 60-minute training session would be $60.
“I purposefully like to make it a little bit less expensive because I want people to feel like their health is affordable,” Wolfe said.
The majority of her clients are people rehabbing from an injury or looking to lose weight.
Wolfe, originally from New York City, moved to Denver from Florida four years ago. She worked for the South Suburban Parks and Recreation, offering personal training services at rec centers south of Denver.
Wolfe hopes to bring in a few more personal trainers to utilize her space, in addition to providing group yoga, Pilates or boot camp classes.
Other personal training studios in Denver include Kinetic Training Club near Union Station and Summit Fitness near the University of Denver.
