A hot stretch of the Highlands is getting a taste of the Middle East.
Ali Baba Grill will open its third location at 2201 W. 32nd Ave. in the Highlands this year down the block from Highland Tap and Burger, and Uncle, an Asian fusion restaurant.
The other Ali Baba restaurants are near DU and in Golden.
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will open after the city approves building permits and construction wraps up – which owner Fayad Aoubabachi expects to be before year-end.
Ali Baba’s will take up the top floor of the 5,000-square-foot, two-story building, which is also home to the Japanese Karate of North Denver gym. The karate studio will remain on a month-to-month lease while brokerage Unique Properties searches for another tenant.
The chain specializes in Lebanese, Persian and Greek cuisine, with prices comparable to fast-casual restaurants such as Chipotle.
Aoubabachi is eyeing Boulder for the next Ali Baba Grill location, but he hasn’t settled on a location.
