Startups in Colorado raised $172.7 million in the month of March.
Boulder companies raked in significantly more funding than Denver, with $97 million and $31 million, respectively. Across the rest of the state startups raised $45 million, according to a tally of Form Ds filed last month through the SEC.
BusinessDen defines a startup as a company that’s 10 years old or younger and excludes publicly traded companies, real estate ventures and investment funds.
The funding tops the same month in 2017, when startups brought in $44.8 million.
The largest raises last month included Louisville-based wood pellet manufacturer Lignetics Investment Group, which raised $20 million, and Boulder-based biotech companies Inscripta and ArcherDX, which raised $55.5 million and $37.6 million, respectively.
Overall, companies across the state raised $511.2 million.
