CovenantCare at Home is closing its Colorado agency.

An Illinois-based nonprofit home health and hospice care provider plans to close its sole Colorado location.

CovenantCare at Home said in a letter to the state earlier this month that 67 employees will lose their jobs in May when it shutters an agency at 9101 Harlan St. in Westminster.

The affected employees include physical therapists, home health aides and sales representatives, according to the notification.

“We have been providing home health, hospice, physical therapy and rehabilitation services in the Denver metro for the last 10 years,” the company said in a statement. “However, with the saturated competitive market of home care providers in this region and the uncertainty with reimbursement rates, remaining viable as a business has become very challenging.

“Notice is being given to all of the agency’s clients so they have the opportunity to find an alternative care provider,” it said.

CovenantCare plans to continue operating its other two agencies in Illinois and California.

The provider is affiliated with Covenant Retirement Communities, which operates retirement community Covenant Village of Colorado in Westminster, among others. That facility is not affected by the closure.
