Workiva, a software company with Midwest roots, has leased 30,500 square feet at 1700 Platte St., leaving just one 20,000-square-foot vacancy in the speculative project.
Workiva (pronounced “Wor-keev-a”) nabbed the southern end of the second floor of Riverview, a 203,000-square-foot facility set to open in February.
With Colorado offices at 9100 E. Panorama Drive in Centennial and 1470 Walnut St. in Boulder, it’s the second tech company from the DTC to sign a lease on Platte Street, following software company Xero signing at Unico Properties’ Circa building at 1615 Platte St.
Riverview’s anchor tenant BP will occupy 86,000 square feet. It still has 21,000 square feet of office space available for lease. The building is being developed by Trammell Crow Company along with Clarion Partners.
Workiva makes a cloud-based product called Wdesk that helps companies store and manage data, making it easier to file with the SEC. Customers have access to its linked word processor, spreadsheet and presentation builder. If an employee needs to change a number in one spreadsheet, the platform updates all other data accordingly. Administrators also can control employee permissions in the system.
Founded in 2008 in Ames, Iowa, Workiva went public in 2014. Its 2016 revenue was $179 million, according to its website. Shares of the company’s stock have doubled in the last year, closing at $22 per share on Wednesday.
In addition to its Iowa headquarters, it has 14 locations, including Boulder and Denver, as well as international outposts in Canada, London and Amsterdam listed on its website.
Tryba Architects designed the Riverview building, and Saunders Construction is the general contractor.
Workiva did not return requests for comment.
