After being acquired by an Atlanta company, a Centennial manufacturing facility is laying off 98 employees as it prepares to close.

Multi Packaging Solutions makes products like debit, credit and ID cards in its facility at 7025 S. Fulton St.

A WARN notice filed with the state on July 25 said the facility “will permanently cease operations except for a very small portion of the business and lay off 81 people” on Sept. 23. It will then let go an additional 17 people on Oct. 26.

This is Multi Packaging Solution’s only Colorado location. It operates 19 other manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and 34 internationally.

The firm produces packaging for the beverage, confectionary, cosmetics, healthcare, horticulture, media and transaction card industries, according to its website.

Atlanta-based WestRock Co. acquired MPS on June 6 for $2.3 billion in debt and equity.

WestRock manufactures paper and cardboard goods such as drink cartons.

MPS did not return messages seeking comment by press time.
