A country club at the southern edge of Lakewood is freshening up one of its 30-year-old buildings.
Pinehurst Country Club, at 6255 W. Quincy Ave., will start work on a 4,250-square-foot addition Monday. The club plans to add locker rooms and a fitness center while renovating its existing tennis shop, general manager Jason Murphy said.
“We’re interested in making Pinehurst even more of a 12-month facility,” Murphy said. “The club is definitely in reinvestment mode.”
Murphy said the budget for the project is $1.25 million. Alcorn Construction is the contractor, and Intergroup Architects is the designer.
The renovations will take place on the north entrance of the club’s tennis facility.
He’s unsure what would fill the new 2,000 square-foot fitness room, but it could include weights, treadmills and other exercise equipment, as well as group classes such as yoga and Pilates. Murphy expects to complete the project in June.
The country club, which has 825 member families, transformed one of its dining areas into a patio in July. That project cost $650,000, Murphy said.
