Cherry Creek’s most expensive home sale in a decade closed last month for $7 million.
The new build at 333 Milwaukee – with a saltwater pool and hot tub, wooden steps built from the treads of an old railroad track climbing up a steel and glass stairway, and a rooftop deck – also topped Denver metro area home sales in November.
Listing agent Jeff Hendley said 333 Milwaukee mirrors architectural trends around Denver.
“The reclaimed wood, the all-glass and steel construction – you are starting to see other properties, other new buildings going up right now that have a similar style,” Hendley said. “Not necessarily ultra-modern, but Colorado modern.”
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home sold for its full list price. With a $7 million price tag, the house dwarfs the three next most-expensive properties to sell in Cherry Creek in the past nine years – a trio of condominiums that each sold for under $5.5 million, according to a local multiple listing service. (You can read about one of them, February’s highest-priced home, here.)
The 8,300-square-foot house is built around a courtyard pool and patio. Inside, its high stone walls are crossed by wood beams and a central staircase climbing three levels from the basement to its second story.
Glass garage doors on the ground floor roll up for access to the courtyard. Corridors on the second floor also overlook the patio outside.
The house, designed by Boulder-based Surround Architecture and built by Trail Star Development, sits on a third of an acre. The property also includes a detached garage fit for a studio or rec room.
This is the second month in a row that the most expensive residential property to sell in the Denver area is also a record sale in its neighborhood. In October, a new build in Washington Park sold for $3.3 million, making it the highest-priced property in that neighborhood in about 30 years.
