Whole Foods is coming to Arvada.

The national chain, owned by Amazon, will open a nearly 40,000-square-foot store at 7815 Wadsworth Blvd., company spokesperson Carrie Rodgers confirmed in an email.

The company did not disclose an opening date or any additional details, but Denverite reported that crews appeared to be clearing out the building, a former Hobby Lobby, last week.

California developer Kimco Realty will demolish the current structure to make way for the one-story shop, according to site plans submitted to the city of Arvada. The publicly traded company also will renovate the fronts of two surrounding retail buildings to match the new shop’s theme.

Whole Foods will join fellow grocers King Soopers, Safeway, Sprouts Farmers Market and Target in the area. The Arvada store fills a void in Whole Foods’ footprint — the closest stores on the west side of the metro area are in Golden, Lakewood and Westminster.

Whole Foods has another location planned for Denver’s Central Park.
