Amazon is adding more Denver office space to its shopping cart.
The company confirmed to BusinessDen last week that it has added another floor to its office at 1515 Wynkoop St., bringing its total footprint in the building to 188,000 square feet.
Each floor in the building is 47,000 square feet. Amazon signed a lease in 2019 for the entire third, fourth and fifth floors. The new lease is for the sixth floor of the building.
A spokesperson for the firm said that 1,500 “corporate and tech employees” work in the building. Employees are expected to be in the office for three or more days a week.
The building, constructed in 2009, is owned by investment firm Invesco. It purchased the eight-story, 307,000-square- foot building for $172 million in 2015.
Whole Foods, which is a subsidiary of Amazon, recently leased space across the street at 1500 Wynkoop. The grocer is building out a 13,500-square-foot office on the third and fourth floors there, permit filings show. That’s about 25,000 square feet less than the company has occupied in Union Station North.
Amazon’s downtown expansion contrasts with competitor Meta, formerly Facebook, which is cutting the size of its office several blocks away in half.
