An athletic apparel retailer and hair salon across the street from each other in RiNo are shuttering, and a distillery in the neighborhood will relocate next year.

The retailer Outdoor Voices will close all of its locations after Sunday, according to multiple media outlets citing employees, who said the brand is shifting to focus on e-commerce.

The store at 2609 Walnut St. in RiNo, the company’s only one in Colorado, opened in 2021. According to its website, Outdoor Voices has 16 locations in 12 states. The company did not respond to a request for comment.

Across the street at 2644 Walnut St., Matthew Morris Salon and Skin Care closed last week.

Founder Matthew Morris opened his first salon in 2006, expanded to RiNo in 2015 and opened his third location in the Denver Tech Center the following year. He did not respond to requests for comment.

According to the salon’s website, all of its RiNo stylists moved to its Baker location at 13 S. Broadway. That location, along with the DTC one, remains open.

Both Matthew Morris and Outdoor Voices leased space from Edens, a national retail real estate firm that owns a cluster of buildings in RiNo.

About a mile away on the other side of RiNo, Ironton Distillery said this week it will close at 3636 Chestnut Place after it relocates to Louisville next year.

Ironton opened its 14,300-square-foot tasting room and distillery in 2018, and makes a range of spirits such as whiskey, gin, rum and absinthe. In 2020, an entity linked to distillery ownership sold its 0.74-acre property for $6 million to Centennial-based Global Pacific Properties, which said its long-term plans were to redevelop the site.

The distillery bought its future Louisville home at 1303 Empire Road in 2022 for $1.97 million, according to property records. One reason for the move was so that production, barrel aging and the tasting room would all be under the same roof, the company said in a news release.

Ironton expects to finish construction of the 2-acre site and move in next year, according to the release. Until then, Ironton will stay open in RiNo.
