Marvin and Nancy Gart are selling their 9,408-square-foot custom Cherry Creek home for $5.8 million.
The M Gart Family LLC purchased the property at 450 Saint Paul St. for $1.4 million in May 2001.
The Garts are building a new home in Belcaro, so they’re selling the mansion built by Denver developer Paul Kobey, said listing agent Arnie Stein with Re/Max Professionals.
Stein said the home is designed for entertaining and features a grand staircase that looks like a museum piece.
The three-story house has an elevator, a three-car garage, a spa and gym, plus two patios. The home is filled with custom wood accents created by New Classics founder Sara Zook.
The indoor patio is a cozy space. “It could be a coffee room in the morning or a place for reading a book in the afternoon,” Stein said.
The outdoor patio is ideal for entertaining.
“From my perspective it’s a unique property on the best block in Cherry Creek,” Stein said. “It’s breathtaking.”
Stein said the mansion, which shares a wall with an adjoining property and has both a primary and secondary suite and two laundry rooms, would be ideal for multigenerational living.
Marvin “Mickey” Gart’s father, Nathan, founded Gart Bros. Sporting Goods Co. in 1928. Gart’s older brother Jerry invented the concept of Labor Day ski clearance sales in 1954, and it became a Colorado tradition.
Jerry Gart died in 1996. His 9,899-square-foot Wash Park mansion is on the market for $7 million after initially being listed in June 2022 for $7.9 million.
