$10M Boulder mansion tops local home sales in May

A 130-year-old Boulder mansion that sold for $200,000 over its list price topped May’s Denver metro area home sales. 

Three of the top five May home sales closed over the list price. 

The six-bedroom, six-bath house at 541 Highland Ave. sold for $10.2 million. Built in 1890, it was one of the first in Boulder’s Mapleton Hill Historic District. 

Kim Hullett with Porchlight Real Estate Group-Boulder represented the sellers Christopher and Jennifer Centeno, who bought the house in 2005 for $2.5 million. Centeno is a specialist in using bone marrow concentrate in orthopedics.

Nina Mooney with Porchlight Real Estate Group-Boulder represented the buyers, Zachary and Natasia Smith.

Details: Compound LLC bought this 5,267-square-foot home listed for $8.8 million. Canova and his wife, Elizabeth, remodeled and reimagined the five-bedroom, six-bath house to create the ultimate Zen retreat. Initially designed and built in 1978 for Chogyam Trungpa, the founder of Naropa University and Shambala, the home was later owned by artist Trudy Derksen and Jirka Rysavy, founder, chairman and CEO of Gaia. According to property records, the Canovas bought the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home for $2.8 million in May 2021.

Andreas Panayiotou is the chief marketing officer at Pfizer, and Stacey Panayiotou is Ball Corporation’s chief HR officer. The 8,262-square-foot home sits on nearly an acre of wooded, secluded land in the heart of Old Cherry Hills.
