The One Group Hospitality, the Denver-based parent of restaurant brands STK Steakhouse and Kona Grill, plans to open a seafood restaurant in Cherry Creek.
One Group will open “the first location for a new concept” at 201 Columbine St, according to design materials submitted to the city earlier this month.
One of the design files was titled “Saltwater Social,” although it wasn’t clear if that would be the final name of the restaurant. HDA Architects principal Angela Feddersen said in a letter to the Cherry Creek North Design Advisory Board on behalf of One Group that the seafood restaurant would incorporate “nautical-themed elements.”
“We are proposing bent aluminum ‘ribs,’ reminiscent of the bones of a fish, which will highlight the entrance and flow across the facades on the east, south and west sides of the building,” Feddersen wrote in a letter.
In a statement issued after this story was initially published, One Group confirmed it had signed a lease at 201 Columbine St.
“While we are excited to expand in the Mile High City in which we are headquartered, the Cherry Creek property’s concept is still yet to be determined,” the company said. “We look forward to working with the Cherry Creek North Design Advisory Board on the concept as it is developed.”
The space has been vacant since the Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill closed in 2019. NAI Shames Makovsky broker Cory Dulberg represented the landlord in the lease deal.
One Group Hospitality has 50 restaurants, including a STK Steakhouse at 1550 Market St. downtown and a Kona Grill in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
Correction: A previous version of this story gave an incorrect figure for the company’s restaurant count. This story has also been updated with a statement that One Group shared after publication.
