Denver law firm moving to Uptown

Ireland Stapleton, a local business law firm, will move its headquarters to the top floor of 1660 Lincoln in Uptown next year.

The firm will take the entire 15,000-square-foot 30th floor, moving from the City Center office complex at 717 17th St.

Ireland Stapleton will be taking less space for its new headquarters at 1660 Lincoln St.

“The space better suits the work styles and technological needs of our team here at the firm and of our clients, frankly,” said Managing Director Erica Tarpey. “The space was created to be more collaborative, with more shared space and conference rooms, more working rooms.”

Tarpey said transportation was an important consideration for the firm. The new location, at Lincoln and 17th, will be easy to get to by car, bike and mass transit, she said.

The move will be a downsizing. Ireland Stapleton rents 24,400 square feet at City Center.

“It is a smaller footprint for us but it’s better laid out,” Tarpey said. “The offices are of a comparable size, there are no big, huge corner offices. Everybody has space and things were built with the idea that our litigation teams need to be together in one room.”

Ireland Stapleton has been in business since 1926 and is the 30th largest law firm in Denver, according to the Denver Business Journal, with 36 lawyers in the area.

Transwestern brokers Whitney Hake and Grace Lessard represented the landlord. Cresa brokers Bill Baldwin, Paul Herzog and Rob Anderson represented the tenant. The move is scheduled to take place in the spring, according to Transwestern.

“Ireland Stapleton’s 10-year lease follows a notable ‘flight to quality’ trend that we have seen in downtown Denver,” Hake said in a statement.

The 1660 Lincoln building is owned by an entity affiliated with Westport Capital Partners, which paid $67 million for the building in 2018.
