Sweetgreen is spinning up more Denver locations.
The California-based salad chain plans to open at 3985 Tennyson St. in the Berkeley neighborhood, as well as 2770 S. Colorado Blvd. in the University Hills neighborhood, according to permit filings submitted to the city.
A spokeswoman for Sweetgreen declined to comment. The company has two existing locations in the city, at 1750 Wewatta St. by Union Station and at 275 St. Paul St. in Cherry Creek. Both opened in 2020.
Sweetgreen also has a drive-thru location in the works in Highlands Ranch.
The Tennyson location would take up a portion of the building at the corner of Tennyson and 41st Avenue, formerly home to Green Door Furniture. The structure was damaged in a fire in 2016, and sold in October 2019 and November 2021, both times for $2.5 million, records show. Renovations are currently underway.
The current owner is Dallas-based real estate firm Rue. According to a marketing brochure, Rue has dubbed the building “The Lantern on Tennyson” and divided the first floor into three retail spaces. A distinctive wood trellis is set to be installed above the roof, which would offer additional dining space.
The Colorado Boulevard restaurant, meanwhile, will be part of a large shopping center owned by Ohio-based Site Centers Corp. that includes a King Soopers, Marshalls and PetSmart.
