A California-based furniture chain’s plans for Colorado go beyond just one store.
Living Spaces, which has 29 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas, plans to open in a former Sears within Thornton’s Larkridge Shopping Center, according to the city’s economic development office.
It’s the company’s second local store known to be in the works. BusinessDen reported last month that Living Spaces plans to open in Lone Tree’s RidgeGate Commons development.
Living Spaces purchased the 200,000-square-foot building at 16395 Washington St. in January for $13 million, according to Adams County property records. The Sears closed there in March 2021.
“We are excited to have Living Spaces open one of its first Colorado locations in Thornton,” said Julie Jacoby, retail administrator for Thornton’s economic development office. “They recognized the boom occurring along the North I-25 corridor, the rapid residential growth happening in the City of Thornton, and a rare opportunity to become part of the established Larkridge Shopping Center.”
The furniture chain, known for its modern designs and large showrooms, did not respond to a request for comment.
Living Spaces plans to open its Thornton store in conjunction with the 106,400-square-foot store it is building in Lone Tree, according to Jacoby.
It’s anticipated that the Lone Tree project will begin construction in June 2022 with a target opening date of June 2023, according to plans on the city’s website.
Living Spaces will be joining anchors like Costco, Topgolf and Home Depot in the Larkridge Shopping Center.
