Russell Wilson hasn’t even suited up for the Denver Broncos, but he’s already broken one local record.
A month after the NFL quarterback was traded to the Broncos, Wilson and his singer-songwriter wife Ciara have paid $25 million for a 20,060-square-foot mansion in Cherry Hills Village. It’s the most ever paid for a residential property in the metro area.
The home at 10 Cherry Hills Park Drive was purchased by Duchess Investments LLC, according to a deed recorded by Arapahoe County on Wednesday.
Wilson, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks, used Duchess Investments LLC in a previous home purchase in Washington State, according to a 2015 story from tech publication Geekwire. And records show the entity’s registered agent is Scott Pickett, a longtime friend of Wilson’s who serves as president of the Russell Wilson QB Academy, according to its website.
The transaction was an off-market deal, meaning the home was not listed for sale, although it was previously listed for $18 million in 2018.
The two-story Cherry Hills mansion has four bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, plus his-and-hers walk-in closets, offices and bathroom suites, according to the 2018 listing. There’s also a 2,590-square-foot indoor swimming pool, a basketball court and a guest apartment with its own kitchen.
The home sits on a 5-acre lot. Outside, there’s a large fireplace, kitchen and multiple seating areas overlooking the expansive grounds, according to the listing.
The home was sold by Mango Cherry Hills LLC, which is managed by billionaire Gary Magness, according to property records. Magness’ late father Bob started cable giant TCI, which merged with AT&T in 1999 in a $48 billion deal. He inherited half of the fortune and is valued at $1.4 billion, according to Forbes.
Before this, the priciest residential property to ever sell in the metro area was a 6,800-square-foot penthouse atop the Four Seasons building downtown, which went for $16 million in March 2020. Second was former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan’s mansion, which sold for $15.7 million in October last year.
Wilson played 10 seasons with the Seahawks and led them to two consecutive Super Bowls, one of which they won in 2014 against the Broncos. He was traded to the Broncos on March 16.
Wilson and his wife listed their 11,104-square-foot home in Bellevue, Washington, for $36 million this week, according to The Denver Post.
