Modular home part manufacturer closing Adams County facility

A company that manufactures parts for modular homes will close its Adams County facility at the end of January.

Heibar will lay off 74 employees in connection with the decision, it told the state Wednesday.

The company did not list a reason for the decision in its notice, which was sent to comply with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

When reached by BusinessDen, Heibar provided a statement that did not include a reason for the closure.

The company’s local facility is at 475 W. 53rd Place. The company also has facilities in Tennessee, Utah and Indiana.

Heibar is a subsidiary of Clayton Homes, one of the country’s largest homebuilders, which is owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

The company got a $1 million grant from the state of Colorado last year to build parts for 285 housing units. In Denver, Heibar helped build 160 “sleeping cottage units” for homeless people, according to the state.
