Trader Joe’s is adding another Denver location.

The owner of The Shops at Northfield in the Central Park neighborhood said in a Tuesday press release that an unspecified “national specialty grocer” will open at the retail hub.

That retailer is Trader Joe’s, multiple sources tell BusinessDen.

A spokeswoman for Stockdale Capital Partners, which bought the open-air shopping center in 2022, declined to confirm that. A spokeswoman for Trader Joe’s, which often doesn’t announce new stores until they are close to opening, said only that the company does “not have a new location confirmed in Denver.”

The grocer will occupy new space built specifically for it on the north end of the property, according to Stockdale.

It is the third major new tenant in the works at Northfield. The other two are taking over former department stores.

Stockdale confirmed Tuesday that Life Time, the gym chain, expects to open in 2027 in a former JCPenney store that closed earlier this year. BusinessDen reported last week that Life Time had submitted plans to convert the space.

Wayfair, the furniture and home goods e-commerce giant, also announced last week that it will open a store in the Macy’s within Northfield that closed earlier this year. The company expects to open in late 2026.

Trader Joe’s does not currently have stores in the northeast part of Denver and the metro area. The closest store to Northfield is at 750 Colorado Blvd.

The Central Park neighborhood is also getting a Whole Foods. That grocer plans to open at the southwest corner of Central Park Boulevard and 40th Avenue, south of The Shops at Northfield.
