Tech firm Snowflake doubles footprint downtown

A tech firm’s local footprint is getting deeper.

Snowflake, the cloud data storage company, doubled its space in the 1700 Broadway building in Denver’s Upper Downtown in the second quarter of the year.

The company added 20,000 square feet, giving it a total of 40,000 square feet, Snowflake spokeswoman Ana Kraus told BusinessDen.

Snowflake took the initial 20,000 square feet in 2020, not long after the firm went public.

As of January, the company had 7,834 employees in 34 countries, according to an annual report. Kraus said nearly 200 Snowflake employees are based in Denver. 

Snowflake recently moved its Bay Area-office in California from San Mateo to Menlo Park, where it will have 773,000 square feet, according to a company blog post. That’s the company’s largest office, although Snowflake says it has no headquarters and lists Bozeman, Montana, as its “principal executive office” in financial filings.

The 22-story 1700 Broadway building is owned by Boston-based Beacon Capital Partners, which bought it in 2019 for $78 million.
