A former owner and executive with Quiznos and Smashburger has sold his mansion in Cherry Hills Village.

The home at 8 Sunset Drive was sold for $10.7 million in early June by 8 Sunset LLC. Records show that Rick Schaden formed that entity in 2007, the same year he bought the property for $12.4 million.

Brooks Schaden, another executive at Rick Schaden’s firm SIF Partners, signed the sale paperwork. Neither of the men responded to a request for comment through the company’s website.

The property was bought by 8 Sunset Drive LLC, which lists its address as the Denver office of BakerHostetler.

Zillow says the Georgian Revival-style home is 17,500 square feet, with seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. It sits on just shy of 6 acres.

Schaden listed the property for $11.9 million in 2018, but no buyer was found then. The house does not appear to have been formally listed before the sale this month.

Rick Schaden and his father Richard were Quiznos franchisees before they bought the sandwich chain in 1991, 10 years after it was founded. As CEO, Schaden oversaw an aggressive expansion that later faltered amid competition as the chain struggled with its debt.

In 2007, Schaden and Tom Ryan founded Smashburger, which according to its website has about 240 locations. The two men are also behind Tom’s Watch Bar, a screen-heavy sports bar chain with a location in Denver’s McGregor Square.
