The City of Arvada may soon be taking over an office building north of Interstate 76.
Arvada’s City Council unanimously approved the purchase of the property at 4600 W. 60th Ave. on Monday.
The contract calls for the city to pay $3.15 million for the 15,300-square-foot building on 1.8 acres. Arvada spokeswoman Rachael Kuroiwa said the deal is still under contract.
City documents state the property will be used by the Community Table, a nonprofit that provides services like rental assistance, health clinics and a food pantry.
The Community Table currently leases city-owned property at 8555 W. 75th Ave. but needed more space – although Kuroiwa said Arvada was interested in the property before that. Documents state the city will transfer the Community Table’s existing lease to the new building.
According to the documents, the 75th Avenue property will be “repurposed for other city uses” that are still undetermined.
The 60th Avenue building is currently owned by Thomas Murphy and Lisa Negri, who bought the property in 2006 for $1.58 million, according to property records. According to marketing materials on LoopNet, the property was leased to a single tenant through this past February. The property was originally listed for $4.3 million, although the price tag was later reduced to $3.9 million.
