Chase Bank will close its branch near the University of Denver this fall.
The banking giant has told federal regulators it plans to shutter the location at 2040 S. University Blvd., east of DU. A Chase spokeswoman said that will happen Nov. 7.
“We look forward to serving customers at any of the nearby branches, including the one at 3435 S. University Blvd.,” said the spokeswoman, Maura Cordova. “All accounts will remain with Chase so no action is required to use existing checks, debit cards or credit cards.”
So far this year, Chase has closed locations in Golden, Boulder and near Union Station. It has opened or announced plans to open branches in Parker, Lafayette and Telluride.
“We continue to open branches where it makes sense, including in high-growth areas where new homes are being added or in neighborhoods that lack access to traditional bank branches,” Cordova said. “Sometimes, we relocate a branch to a new site due to low foot traffic, branch overlap or as many customers turn to digital channels to do their everyday banking.”
Chase was the second-largest banking chain in the Denver area by deposits last year. It had $19 billion, or 14.9 percent, of bank deposits as of the end of June 2022, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data released last September.
Edgemark Development of Denver, which purchased its 10,500 square feet for $930,000 in the year 2000, owns 2040 S. University Blvd., city records show.
