A Denver-based energy company is the fastest-growing private firm in the state, according to Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 5000.
Crusoe Energy grabbed the No. 49 spot, the highest ranking among the 133 Colorado firms that made the list.
The 5-year-old company, founded by Chase Lochmiller and Cully Cavness, converts wasted fuel into electricity that’s used to power computer systems that mine bitcoin. It reported 2022 revenue was up 8,148 percent in three years.
Nabbing Colorado’s second spot at No. 97 is Blazy Susan, a cannabis accessory brand known for its pink products. Founded by William Breakell in 2017, the company reported 4,811 percent growth from three years prior.
The list released last week included 107 businesses from the Denver metro area. Eighty-two of the Colorado companies had previously made the list.
In order to make it on the Inc. 500 list, a business must have made at least $100,000 in revenue in 2019 and $2 million in 2022. Businesses must apply and pay a fee to be included. Those that make it are ranked by their percentage of revenue growth between 2019 and 2022. The published list does not give specific revenue figures.
