A local country club is getting remodeled and rejuvenated.

Pinehurst Country Club, at 6255 W. Quincy Ave. in southwest Denver, is planning to completely revamp its pool area and course within five years.

Alex Raimondi, the club’s general manager, said the $5 million pool renovation project will happen first. Construction should begin this fall and be completed in the fall of next year.

“It’s part of the master plan to continue to upgrade the facilities and make sure that they’re relevant and … the pool is a part of that,” Raimondi said. “The idea is just to continue to provide the finest amenities for our membership. The pool is 65 years old.”

The new pool area will include a new deck, landscaping and leisure areas, and will be more child-friendly.

The new pool deck will be 16,151 square feet, the plaza area will be 7,155 square feet and a restroom and guard house will be 796 square feet, according to plans submitted to the city by architecture firm DTJ Design.

Raimondi said the 900-member club is focused on making families a priority at the new pool. He said it will have more lap lanes for swimmers and a new separate children’s area.

He said an “overwhelming majority” of members voted in favor of the renovations, and Pinehurst is still in the bidding process for contractors.

“At this point, we’re working with a lot of different agencies,” Raimondi said. “We’ve done a lot of consulting with JVA (engineering), but we’re at the point now where we’re just trying to get to where we can select general contractors and go from there.”

Following the pool renovations, Pinehurst is also looking to update its 27-hole golf course. That effort will bring it back to its original design while also fixing irrigation issues and water drainage, Raimondi said.

  1. Press Maxwell designed the course that opened in 1958. He also designed several other courses in Colorado, including the Boulder Country Club and Rolling Hills Country Club in Golden. Maxwell also designed courses in Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri.

Raimondi said the course renovation will likely start in 2025 and take two years. He estimated it will cost between $7 million and $9 million.

“I came out of retirement to come and help the club to move forward and to make sure the club becomes a leader in the industry in the area,” he said.

In 2017, the club completed a $1.25 million renovation of its tennis shop, adding new lockers and a fitness room for its members.
