After four decades along Broadway in downtown Denver, the law firm Springer & Steinberg is moving south.

The firm, known for its high-profile criminal defense and personal injury work, will pick up and relocate to 1400 S. Colorado Blvd. at the end of the month, Jeff Springer said.

“We are going to be real close to Glendale and I am the Glendale city attorney, so it makes some sense for us to do that,” the firm’s co-founder explained.

“We’re excited to be close to Glendale and everything that’s going on there, and give our firm what we think is going to be a beautiful space. We’re going to have our name on the north and south sides of the building. We think it’s a great opportunity for us,” he said.

The firm is currently at 1600 N. Broadway, a 26-story high-rise that was called the Colorado State Bank Building when Springer & Steinberg moved in. The bank is now BOK Financial.

The 1400 S. Colorado building was entirely occupied by Lewan Technology until it moved to the Denver Tech Center in 2021. Springer & Steinberg will fill 13,000 square feet, a larger space than it has now. Though farther from downtown courthouses, Springer sees some advantages.

“We think we’re going to be in a — I hate to say this, but a nicer part of town,” he said. “We, frankly, go all over the country. So, being just off I-25 is a pretty good thing for us.”

Springer’s law partner, Harvey Steinberg, is one of Colorado’s most prominent defense attorneys. He has represented some of the country’s top athletes, former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters and the late oil tycoon Jack Grynberg, among others. He currently represents Charles “Chuck” McDaniel, a local insurance executive facing sex charges.

Springer & Steinberg will take the top floor of the five-story building at 1400 S. Colorado. The 57,000-square-foot office building was erected in 1983 and renovated this year.

“In my mind, it’s essentially a brand-new building,” said Avison Young broker Joe Serieno, who brokered the deal. “It has a new roof, new HVAC, new wiring, new alarm system. … So, I consider it to be the newest building on Colorado Boulevard.”
