Rivian plans to park in RiNo.
The electric car company, which makes a pickup truck and SUV, plans to open a showroom at 2763 Blake St., according to permit filings submitted to the city.
The showroom is slated to be about 3,500 square feet, documents show.
Rivian, founded in 2009, delivered its first trucks to customers in late 2021. Like its bigger competitor Tesla, the company has a direct-to-customer sales model.
Rivian operates a service center at 3893 Steele St. in Denver’s Clayton neighborhood, and plans to add another in Colorado Springs. The RiNo facility, however, appears likely to be the company’s first showroom in Colorado.
Rivian spokeswoman Miranda Jimenez declined to give a timeline for opening when contacted by BusinessDen.
“We can confirm that we have something in the works at this site, but we don’t have anything else to share about it quite yet,” Jimenez said in an email.
Other electric car brands have picked Cherry Creek for their Denver showrooms. Polestar has a showroom in Cherry Creek North, and Lucid Motors operates in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. Tesla also previously had a showroom in the mall.
In RiNo, Rivian is taking a portion of the Lot Twenty Eight building, which was renovated by Denver-based Formativ and sold in 2021 for $19.6 million to an entity affiliated with Lagniappe Capital Partners. Lagniappe did not respond to a request for comment last week.
Other Lot Twenty Eight tenants include the mini golf restaurant Puttshack, which will open May 26, and the restaurant Yardbird Table & Bar, slated to open in June.
