Denver coffee shops have a new competitor moving to town.

7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee, founded in Arkansas in 2017, has signed deals with three Colorado based franchisees to open locations in Colorado.

Brian Pyle, founder and CEO of ERC Hospitality, has committed to open 31 7 Brew locations in the Denver metro area over the next five years. ERC Hospitality operates 22 Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers locations, 16 of which are in Colorado.

“Things change over time and burger and fries and custard was always a good thing to do, but coffee has been a really hot item,” Pyle said.

Pyle said his first 7 Brew will open by the end of the year at 16298 Green Valley Ranch Blvd., near Denver International Airport. And he’s leased land for a second location at I-225 and Mississippi in Aurora from Armstrong Capital Development, which he expects to open early 2024. Both projects are in the permitting process.

“As we started looking to diversify our portfolio, coffee came up … we went and toured one of their [7 Brew] corporate stores in Arkansas and fell in love with the concept,” Pyle said.

Pyle is actively working on eight deals for 7 Brew locations. Each spot is roughly 550 square feet with two drive-thru lanes. He said the buildings will have large windows so customers can see the drinks being made.

“We’re very fortunate to be in Denver – we have high density and high traffic counts,” Pyle said. “When you can get roads and highways that are high traffic, good visibility, close to a grocery store or some big box that draws people to the area, that’s what we look for.”

Pyle said he expects to hire around 50 employees for the first location. 7 Brew menu items include a variety of coffee options, such as lattes and cappuccinos, as well as smoothies, energy drinks and teas.

According to its website, 7 Brew has 77 locations in 17 states, but none currently up and running in Colorado.

Pyle said 7 Brew has two other franchisees in Colorado, and he expects a franchisee in Colorado Springs to be the first to open in the state.
