Liberty Media Corp. is trying to unload an unoccupied office building next to its Douglas County headquarters.

The company, whose holdings include the Atlanta Braves and Sirius XM, has tapped JLL to market the building it owns at 8900 Liberty Circle.

The five-story, 316,500-square-foot office building was previously used by the cable network Starz, which was once part of Liberty Media but was spun off as a separate company in 2013.

Starz moved to about 100,000 square feet at 6363 S. Fiddlers Green Circle in Greenwood Village. The company is still paying rent on the building through this December, according to JLL marketing materials obtained by BusinessDen.

Liberty Media did not respond to a request for comment. The company controlled by billionaire John Malone, who Forbes considers the second-richest person in Colorado, has its headquarters across the street at 12300 Liberty Blvd.

Liberty’s two-building campus is situated between Centennial Airport to the north and the E-470 toll road to the south.

The former Starz building has two giant wings protruding from an atrium lobby and sits on 16.4 acres, half of which are undeveloped. The structure was constructed in 2001 and includes gym and cafe space, according to the marketing materials. The property has 738 parking spaces.

“The large floor plates will make this asset attractive to a large corporate user or smaller users as the floor plates can be easily divided up into separate suits,” the JLL materials state.

The marketing materials don’t include a list price.

Parties interested in buying large unoccupied office buildings have several options to choose from locally. Newmark is marketing Lumen’s campus in Broomfield, which offers 769,000 square feet on 45 acres. And a 164,000-square-foot office building in Greenwood Village most recently used by Comcast is scheduled for auction in May.
