Messner Reeves, a nationwide law firm that was founded in Denver, has moved its LoDo office along Wynkoop Street a few blocks north to the Triangle Building.

The move happened Nov. 21. The firm subleases 15,000 square feet on the seventh floor of the Triangle Building, 1550 Wewatta St., according to managing partner David Reeves.

“We were looking to become more efficient in the post-COVID environment and sought a newer space designed to accommodate and facilitate hybrid work schedules,” he said. “We wanted to maximize collaboration and find a property that would fit the firm’s culture.”

Messner Reeves has 150 attorneys spread across seven states, including 35 at its LoDo office. It is the 19th-largest firm in Denver, according to the Denver Business Journal.

The firm formed in 1995. It purchased 1430 Wynkoop in 2000 and renovated its 22,000 square feet, then sold the building to Seattle-based Unico in 2015. As it looked to leave in recent years, brokers at JLL showed it “dozens of properties up and down 16th Street, but none really compared to the Triangle Building,” Reeves said.

“The space was just the size we were seeking and staying in LoDo was important to us, as we have been there for more than two decades,” he said. “We plan to continue to grow and feel that the Triangle Building can provide that flexibility.”

Messner Reeves opened a Denver Tech Center office in 2020, shrinking its needs in LoDo.

“The size of the space doesn’t really feel like a downsize,” Reeves said of the new Triangle Building office, “because all of the LoDo personnel are now on one floor, and the open floor plan provides a more collaborative and cooperative environment.”

Messner Reeves was founded by Corky Messner and Ron Reeves, David Reeves’ father. Messner stepped down as CEO last year after an unsuccessful run for the U.S. Senate.
