PNC Bank will close its downtown location in Denver Place early next year.

The national banking chain notified federal regulators earlier this month that it will shutter its branch at 999 18th St. It occupies a ground-floor suite there.

Kelby Krauss, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania-based bank, said the closure will occur Feb. 17 and all employees will be retained by PNC Bank.

Krauss said the company is leaving Denver Place because it opened a branch last year a few blocks away at 1590 Lawrence St.

“That has more modern and advanced technology to better serve our clients,” he said.

PNC has grown significantly in the Denver metro this year. In 2021, it was the 54th largest banking chain here when ranked by deposits. This year it was 13th, taking in 1.3 percent of all deposits, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data released Sept. 16.
