It might be tricky to see 16th Street Mall’s newest tenant.

New York-based Museum of Illusions, an optical illusion attraction, announced last week it plans to open a 6,229-square-foot location in downtown Denver early next year.

It will be at 951 16th St., where an Ann Taylor Loft store previously operated, according to JLL broker Sam Zaitz. He and colleagues Sarah Alfano and Adam Rubenstein represented the landlord in the deal.

Museum of Illusions, founded in Croatia in 2015, says it offers mentally-stimulating optical illusions, 3D holograms, brain-puzzling exhibits and interactive illusion rooms suitable for all ages.

The Denver location will be the brand’s 38th. The company said in its announcement that it has an aggressive growth strategy, targeting 100 locations internationally within the next four years.

While the Downtown Denver Partnership and city of Denver have been working to install pop-up tenants along the 16th Street Mall, the Museum of Illusions plans to stick around. The company has a 10-year lease.

Tether brokers Sean Kulzer and Sean Bossy represented the tenant in the deal.

Further down the 16th Street Mall, Banana Republic plans to close its Denver Pavilions location later this month.
