Epic Brewing Co.’s RiNo real estate has changed hands.
Denver 3001 Walnut LLC purchased the brewery’s property at 3001 Walnut St. last week for $6.5 million, according to public records.
The 0.57-acre lot has about 18,000 square feet of building space on it, according to property records.
Epic Brewing was founded in Utah in 2010 by Peter Erickson and David Cole. According to the company’s website, the brewery in RiNo, which incorporates a taproom, opened in 2013 and continues to operate.
Epic’s real estate was sold by 3001 EBWalnut LLC, which paid $3 million for the property in 2014, records show. Erickson signed sale paperwork as manager of the entity.
Attempts to reach Erickson Tuesday were unsuccessful. A company representative said in an email that Epic itself has never owned the property, and has always been a tenant.
- Cody Acuff formed the entity that purchased the property, state records show. He is general counsel for Monfort Cos., which invests in commercial real estate and has developed projects like Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row at 1946 Market St. in LoDo, according to the firm’s website.
But Monfort Cos. Executive Vice President Kenneth Monfort, whose father Charlie co-owns the Colorado Rockies, said Tuesday that his firm was not the buyer.
“We were under contract and ended up assigning the contract to the buyer,” he said.
No redevelopment plans have been submitted to the city for the Epic property.
On the opposite end of the 3000 block of Walnut, Minneapolis-based construction firm Mortenson plans to build itself an office building where a parking lot now sits.
