The head of an Aurora-based mortgage lender has paid all cash for a new home backing up to Denver Country Club.
American Financing founder and CEO Damian Maldonado purchased a 6,041-square-foot house at 1991 E. Alameda Ave. #5 for $4.3 million in Washington Park last month, according to public records.
Sitting on 0.47 acres on the south side of the Denver Country Club golf course, the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home features a rustic wood and red brick exterior, four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The property was originally listed for $5 million in June 2020.
Maldonado founded American Financing Corp. at 21 years old with his wife Gabie in 1999 out of their home with just $5,000 on his credit card, according to the company’s website. Now, the company is a national mortgage banker with commercials featuring celebrities like Peyton Manning.
Although Maldonado didn’t take out a mortgage in connection with the buy, he was represented by American Home Agents, the residential real estate brokerage he founded in 2004.
Address: 1991 E. Alameda Ave., Unit No. 5, Denver
Sale price: $4.3 million
Stats: The two-story home features 4,499 square feet above ground level, plus a 1,358-square-foot finished basement.
The finer things: With a back patio immersed in nature, the setting of this Wash Park property is “akin to being in Beaver Creek or Vail,” according to the listing. Built in 1984, the home has been significantly renovated with a modern-transitional style, while honoring the architectural character.
“You’ve got the golf course directly behind the property, direct views of downtown Denver and beyond that an entire view of Rocky Mountains,” said buyer’s agent Peter Stur with American Home Agents. “A lot of properties don’t even have one of those views, so to get three out of three is very rare.”
Seller: Brad Weydert. Weydert is the former president of Greenwood Village-based IT services firm Statera, according to his LinkedIn.
Buyer: Damian Maldonado
Listing agent: Jeff Hendley with Compass- Denver
Buyer’s agent: Peter Stur with American Home Agents
