Joy Fill has gotten too full for its 700-square-foot space on Tennyson Street.

Brittany Iseli, owner of the eco-friendly store that sells refillable, sustainable household cleaners, personal care and beauty products, has plans to move out of the storefront at 3843 Tennyson St. this spring.

The store has been there since its 2017 inception.

“Looking at the future, I didn’t think it was a place we could stay in long term,” Iseli said. “I have a running list of recommendations that customers want to see in our shop, but I never have enough space.”

But Joy Fill won’t be going too far. Iseli signed a three-year lease this month less than half a mile south at 4340 W. 35th Ave. in West Highland. She hopes to open there the first week of April.

“I didn’t want to leave this neighborhood,” Iseli said. “I mean, I was lucky enough to find this spot originally. I actually live in the neighborhood, too, which is convenient, and we’ve gained a pretty good following in the area. There’s a zero-waste market in Aurora and Edgewater, so I wanted to keep this part of the market for us.”

The new 1,800-square-foot space was previously home to NY Pizza Pub, which decided during the pandemic to switch permanently to takeout and delivery only. NY Pizza Pub will now occupy a portion of the first floor of the building, where there is a kitchen that the landlord has now closed off from the store.

Broker Brian Frank with Axio Commercial Real Estate helped Iseli find the space.

Iseli, a Fort Collins native, opened Joy Fill after years of working in medical sales, where she said she was put off by the amount of waste hospitals accumulated with single-use materials. She said she was passionate about adapting to a less wasteful lifestyle but didn’t find a lot of resources in Denver to help reach her plastic-free goals.

“I had come across a few refill stores in my travels and thought it was something northwest Denver needed,” she said.

Joy Fill sells products online and in-store from vendors around the state, including chemical-free cleaning products from Evergreen-based Humble Suds and bath salts, lotions and essential oils from Little Moon Essentials in Steamboat Springs.

“Online sales aren’t the biggest part of our business because the idea is that people are bringing in their own containers to refill all their goods, and if you order online, you have to buy a new container,” Iseli said.

Iseli hopes to increase the store’s online presence by creating a local soap subscription delivery service after settling into the new store. She also said she’s eventually looking to open a second location and is considering Littleton or Boulder as possibilities.
