Their next acquisition will be a new name.
Aqyre Real Estate Advisors, a new commercial brokerage started last year in Denver, has agreed to change its moniker after being sued over the summer.
Denver-based Aqyre LLC — which says it advises clients in the purchase, sale and management of property interests such as oil and gas leases and water rights — filed the lawsuit alleging trademark infringement in mid-July.
The lawsuit was dismissed in mid-October, and court documents refer to a settlement.
Joe Hornstein, one of the founders of Aqyre Real Estate, said the company plans to roll out its new name by the start of 2021.
Hornstein, Scott Fetter, Matt Lewallen and Kevin Calame, along with more junior team members, left Denver’s Pinnacle Real Estate Advisors to found Aqyre Real Estate.
The company helps clients buy and sell apartment buildings and other real estate assets, primarily in the Denver metro area. Unlike Aqyre LLC, its deals typically do not involve natural resources.
An attorney who represented Aqyre LLC in the litigation did not respond to a request for comment.
