Through Wednesday, a tee time at Denver’s golf courses was almost as elusive as toilet paper.
Courses reported packed tee sheets from dawn to dusk.
Most courses placed some form of a plug in the cup so the ball could be tapped away.
But now one of the last refuges from home lockdown has evaporated.
Due to local and state orders, golf courses mostly shut down on Thursday. Five courses contacted by BusinessDen – Green Valley Ranch, Highlands Ranch Golf Club, The Ranch Golf Club, Columbine Country Club and Common Grounds Golf Course – were open through Wednesday. All said they filled almost every tee time.
Most were allowing only walking and placed some form of a plug in the cup so the ball could be tapped away. Pins either remained in all the time or were absent all together.
And rakes were nonexistent in bunkers.
One course contacted by BusinessDen is still open: TPC Colorado in Berthoud.
The course said that the governor’s proclamation allowed Coloradans to exercise. And walking the course — carts are prohibited — is exercise, the court reasoned.
