Compass Fitness is hoping to hit customers with a one-two punch.

The fitness studio, located at 2059 S. Broadway, is opening a second location two blocks away.

The new space, named Compass Wellness, will offer three practitioner rooms — think IV therapy, chiropractors, massage and physical therapists. The business also will have small-group training and slower-paced classes, such as heated yoga, barre and Pilates.

Co-owner Jillian Keaveny described Compass Wellness as a “softer side of Compass.”

“We wanted a space that was very welcoming to people, that would push people to various levels of fitness and that would give them many different looks to fitness,” she said. “We felt like we hadn’t seen a lot of that unless it was at Colorado Athletic Club or something like that.”

Practitioners, who will lease space from Compass, have not been announced. Keaveny said there might also be a food element.

Compass Wellness will occupy a 5,300-square-foot space at 1842 S. Broadway. The building was previously occupied by Center Strength, which is consolidating two of its locations to South Gaylord Street in Washington Park.

Compass Wellness expects to open in late spring. Keaveny said pricing at Wellness hasn’t been determined but will be similar to Fitness, with unlimited classes costing $179. Members will have access to both studios.

Compass Fitness will continue offering an array of workouts.

Compass Fitness will continue offering an array of workouts, including HITT, kickboxing and other “down and dirty”-style classes, Keaveny said.

Some classes at both studios will require the use of headphones to hear music and follow the instructor.

“Compass came from the idea that there’s a lot of ways to move your body,” Keaveny said. “There’s a lot of avenues to health and wellness … and that takes its own course as you age.”

Founded in May 2018, the fitness brand is owned by Keaveny, Heather Harrington, Taylor Ames and Tara Laferrara.

When Keaveny and Harrington first opened Compass Fitness, they wanted to lease space to practitioners behind the workout floor, but opted to add child care instead.
