A three-story condo across the street from Union Station hit the market last week for $3.3 million.
If the 4,609-square-foot condo at 1792 Wynkoop St. sells at or above asking price, it will be the highest sale in the building, according to the Denver Metro Association of Realtors. The current top sale of $1.75 million was for a 2,892-square-foot two-bedroom, three-bathroom condo that changed hands last June.
Claus Wagner and Irene Sieb purchased the unit in 2012 for $825,000, records show. Wagner is the former chairman and CEO of Motor Sports Country Club, a development company that once proposed to build a “motorsports destination resort along Interstate 70 east of Denver,” according to the Denver Business Journal.
The three-bedroom, four-bathroom unit in the building, which dates to 1905, was renovated four years ago to include a 1000-square-foot private rooftop patio overlooking Union Station. Other renovations included updating the master bathroom and creating what listing agent Jonathan Mueller of Engel & Völkers Denver calls a “lockout space.”
The lockout space is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit adjacent to the condo. It can be accessed inside the main condo or the main building. Mueller said the space can be used for an at-home gym, office or rental space.
Included in the sale is an adjacent unit that can be accessed inside the condo or the main building.
“We listed the property at $3.3 million primarily because the outdoor space up top that (Wagner) had built … along with the lockout that gives owners an extra rental income,” Mueller said. “It’s a highly desirable property and you don’t find these types of features downtown.”
